William Andrew Gore Sr., age 85, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away December 12, 2018, at Providence Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery near Valley Mills with full military honors.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 21, 2018, at the funeral home.
William Andrew Gore Sr. was born in Valley Mills, Texas on March 15, 1933 to Lottie and Elmer Gore. Bill met and married Narvie Banks and to this union 4 children were born. Bill joined the armed forces and served in Japan and Korea over the course of four years. The family moved to Amarillo in 1962 and it became his home. Bill drove a truck from the age of 16 until he retired at the young age of 82. He moved to New York City in 1965 and lived there for 13 years. During the time he lived in New York he owned a barbeque restaurant and continue driving a truck (18 wheeler).
He moved back to Texas In 1978 were he drove a truck for Levi Strauss. He then met and married Mary Wright and gained two step children. After a few years they moved to China Springs to the family property where he continued to drive a truck back and forth across the country and with the help of his brother Ted Gore raised cattle as well. Bill was an elder of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Bill was preceded in death by parents, 2 sisters and 4 brothers, Narvie Banks Gore and Mary Gore.
He leaves to cherish his memories 2 sons Andrew (Shae) Gore of McKinney, Tx; and Laramie Gore of Atlanta, Ga; 5 daughters Kimberly Gore of Amarillo, Tx;
Michelle
(George) Washington of Euless Tx; Terrie Gore of Houston Tx; and Andrea Skinner of Wilmington Del; Denise and John Wright;1 brother Ted Gore of China Springs Tx; and 1 sister Felecia (Alfred) Phillips of Amarillo Tx; 15 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends
The Pall Bearers will be Raymond Saddler, Eric McCleary, Scott McCleary, Corey McCleary, Frederick Saddler and Michael Saddler.
