Wiley Mason Sparks

Wiley Sparks, age 71, of Valley Mills passed away on May 10, 2020, in a Waco Hospital. . Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020, from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. State mandated social distancing will be practiced at this event.

Wiley was born on February 3, 1949 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.. He was the son of the late Mearl and Virginia Smith Sparks. He graduated from McGregor high school in 1967. He obtained an associates degree from McLennan Community College in criminal justice.. He was a detective for the Waco Police Department for 13 years.. He then worked for Pitney Bowes until his retirement in 2014. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Wiley was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Mearl Sparks.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Zoe Ann, son Shawn Sparks of Sachse Tx, daughter Carli Robinson and husband Larry of Valley Mills, Tx; grandchildren Logan Sparks of Waco, Texas, Sydney and Cash Swearingin of Valley Mills, Tx.; sister Sue and husband Dean Wilson of Valley Mills Tx, brother Mike and wife Teresa Sparks of Utopia Tx, sister Denise Harris of Laguna Park Tx, brother-in-law Sam Thiele of Junction Tx and faithful companion dog, Rosie. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
