Weldon was born on January 12, 1941 in Monahans, TX to Lewis and Edna (Long) Foss. He was the third of four children born to this union. Weldon was baptized at VBS in 1955. Weldon's dad, Lewis, worked in construction which led them to Valley Mills, TX when Weldon was ten months old. Weldon talked about helping his dad on the farm and the many adventures from new fences to harvesting crops and everything in between. During high school summers, Weldon worked for neighboring farmers. Following graduation from Crawford High School, he worked at a furniture plant in McGregor for four years before being drafted into the army. He served two years in Virginia and then served two years in the Reserves at Fort Hood. He went to carpenter apprentice school at TSTI which led to a job with Borch Construction where he worked with his dad. His next employment opportunity was with Linden Coone Construction where he remained for many years. A couple of his memorable projects were Safeway and the river walk on the Brazos River along with numerous other projects. Weldon's next career chapter was EMT which also led to nurse aid and medication aid. He drove the ambulance in Clifton and worked for the prison system in Gatesville where he retired after nearly eleven years.

Along the journey Weldon was a faithful member of the Valley Mills Church of Christ. Weldon loved to sing and served his church by leading the song service. Weldon had two children from his first marriage, whom he cherished and loved deeply. He married Diane Fulp Poston on June 28, 1980 in the Valley Mills Church of Christ. Weldon and Diane were married for 40 years with lots of stories and adventures. Their blended family consisted of Diane's five children and Weldon's two children completing their family of nine and adding the title of PawPaw. Weldon loved to talk but especially about his family, his kids, grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids. He told everyone he had fifty-one grandkids and would light up at the chance to talk about them. Weldon was kind and never met a stranger. He loved his church family and kept them close to his heart.
