Obituary

Wanda Ann Cockrell
Nov. 6, 1949 ~ Jan. 14,  2024

Wanda Ann Cockrell, age 74 passed peacefully January 14, 2024 at her home.  Memorial service will be 11 AM Monday at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Wanda was born November 6, 1949 in Marlin, Texas.  She is the daughter of Thomas Hardin Cockrell and Francis Geraldine Cockrell (McCoy).

Wanda loved riding her horses and teaching her grand-kids how to as well.  She loved going to rodeos and was always dressed to the hilt with her perfectly matching jewelry.  The rodeo is where she met many life long friends.  She loved country dancing, doo-wop music and she never tired from watching her western movies.  Wanda was the happiest when she was cheering on her grandkids and great-grandkids at their sporting events.  Cold or hot, she usually beat us to the games and was the loudest and proudest Nannie in the stands.  She didn't have much, but she always found a way to slip some money or candy to her grands, and presents for their birthdays and Christmas.
She lived all over Texas, but always made her way back to the Waco area, where she called home.

Wanda was preceded in death by:  Father - Thomas Cockrell, 2001, Mother - Geraldine Cockrell, 2014, and sister Ellouise Barrett, 1978.

She is survived by:  Sister – Patsy Robison and husband, Lester, Brother – Danny Cockrell and wife Rachelle, Brother – Tommy Cockrell and wife, Janice, Brother – Rick Cockrell Sr. and wife, Darlene.  Daughter – Kim Cannon and husband, Mark, Daughter – Penny Vannatta and husband, Danny, Son – Teddy Burt.   Grandchildren:  Kayla, Jordan Williams and husband Lance, Brazos Cannon and wife Emily, Dalton Vannatta and wife Alex, Brindle Burt, Rowan Burt and Briar Burt.  Great grandchildren:  Cooper Cannon, Cannon Cannon, Jenntrie Vannatta, Marie Cannon, Harper Williams, Cason Cannon, Ella Cannon, Rhett Vannatta, Taryn Williams, and Hannah Cannon. Many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
