Wade (Bo) Nelson

February 19, 1957 ~ March 28, 2026

Wade F. Nelson, affectionately known as "Bo Bo' or simply "Bo" to many, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Valley Mills, Texas, at the age of 69. Born on February 19, 1957, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Wade spent much of his life in Central Texas, where he built a legacy of love for his family, sports, and the outdoors.

Bo grew up in the Central Texas area and graduated from Crawford High School. During his time there, he developed a passion for sports and excelled in them. His athleticism and dedication left a lasting impression on those who knew him during his school years. After high school, Bo answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force.  He completed his service with honor and returned home to focus on what mattered most to him-his family.

One of Bo's greatest joys in life was spending time with his two sons, Russ and Zach Nelson. He cherished every moment coaching them in their sports as they grew up, sharing not only his knowledge but also his support. He also attended church here at First Baptist Church regularly with his family. Bo also found fulfillment working on the Olson Ranch, where he loved working alongside his son Russ. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes.

Bo is survived by his loving mother, Dixie Leathers; his sons, Russ Nelson and Zach Nelson; his sister Dana Smith and her husband Roy; his brother Brian Leathers and his wife Melissa, several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Wade F. Nelson Sr. and his sister Deanna Nelson.

Bo's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best, his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of sharing in his life's journey. May his legacy of love for family, passion for sports, and appreciation for nature bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.

A visitation will be held on April 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Valley Mills.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM right after the visitation at the church. Internment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery.  A luncheon will be provided by his longtime friend and employer, Lyndon Olson and wife, Kay whom Bo thought of and loved just like family! The luncheon will be open to everyone.

Russ and Zach would like to express their gratitude for the generosity and kindness that Lyndon and Kay have always shown Bo and his family all throughout the years and throughout this difficult time. We love you both!
