Velma Freedman Johnson

April 1, 1934~May 12, 2017

Velma Freedman Johnson, age 83, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at Providence Hospital surrounded by family.  Funeral service will be 10 A.M. Wednesday at the Valley Mills First United Methodist Church.  Interment will be at the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, Texas, under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Visitation will be 5 - 7 P.M. Tuesday at Foss Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.

Velma was born April 1, 1934, in Valley Mills to Jess and Mary Emily (York) Freedman.  She loved to quilt, cook, can foods, gardening and loved kids.  She was a member of the Valley Mills First United Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Billings and Andrew John (A.J) Johnson.  Also preceded in death by siblings: Lillimae Johnson, Corrine Riddle, Jesse (Ned) Freedman, William (Gene) Freedman, Ray Freedman, Richard Freedman, and Inez Rogers.

She is survived by her son:  Bruce Johnson; 2 daughters:  Brenda Sue Billings Hudgins, Lisa Jacobson; 4 grandchildren:  Brad White, Erik Jacobson, Anders Jacobson, Heather Frost and 3 great grandchildren:  Atom White, Ashley and Jayden Frost.   Siblings:  D. G. Freedman, Duncan Freedman and wife Lynda, Delma Mann and husband Sammy, Diane Jordan, Carroll Freedman, Harry Freedman and wife LaDonna.
