Valerie Smith Mullen

Valerie Jeanne Mullen, age 57, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away August 23, 2017, in Valley Mills after a lengthy illness.  Memorial services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the Patton Baptist Church, 656750 Chisholm Trail, Valley Mills, Texas 76689, with Rev. Pat Cummings officiating under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorials may be made to Bosque Animal Rescue Kennel (BARK) at 4340 Hwy. 6, Clifton, Texas 76634.

Valerie was born on September 7, 1959, at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, to William and Ruth (Squyres) Smith.  She married David Mullen on June 4, 2011, at the Patton Baptist Church.  Before retiring she was employed at Waco Eye Associates as an optician.  Valerie loved being with her family, especially during the holidays and deer season.  She loved riding motorcycles with her husband Dave and also listening to her little brother Steve's band, rarely missing a show, as she was his biggest fan.  She loved to cook and organize parties and family adventures.  She was a gentle soul who freely gave of her self and ensured everybody felt her love.  She is preceded in death by her younger sister Vicki Smith Wallace.  Valarie will be missed by her family and friends.

Valerie is survived by her husband, David Mullen of Valley Mills, Tx.; a son: John Colton Smith of Waco; a step daughter: Megan Nicole Mullen Markowsky; a granddaughter:  Fallyn Olivia Markowsky of Corpus Christi; her parents:  Bill and Ruth Smith of Valley Mills; Tx.; brother: Steve Smith and wife Becky of Lorena, Tx.; nephew: Jacob Smith of Waco; niece: Audra Smith of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law: Dale Wallace, many uncles, aunts, cousins, and Judy, her beloved red bone hound.
