Susan C. Grelle

Susan "Susie" C. Grelle, 87, passed away peacefully on March 16th, 2026.

Susie was born at Fort D.A. Russell in Marfa, Texas, on October 26, 1937, to Stuart Francis Crawford and Lahoma Payne Crawford. Growing up her family was stationed at many military bases across the world, including Pearl Harbor, where Susie was present and later recalled the attack vividly.

Throughout her life, she has bred and professionally showed many dog breeds, including German Shepherds, Vizslas, and Great Pyrenees. She bred Appaloosa horses and was actively involved in numerous horse clubs. She was a permanent fixture at the famous Valley Mills "Horse Auction" on Highway 56.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and nephew, Lyndon Dees. She is survived by her sister, Margie Dees, and her niece, Leah-Anne Janway of Oklahoma.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Lane's Chapel Cemetery near Valley Mills, Texas.

Susie will be remembered for her great sense of humor, living life on her own terms, and her love for animals - especially horses. She was a force of nature and lived the "Cowboy Way" life to the fullest.
