Stella Matthews

Stella Mae Matthews, age 89, of Crawford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at Providence Hospital. Memorial services will be 11  A.M. Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel under the direction of   Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be just prior to  the service at the chapel.

Stella was born on January 30, 1930, in Moody, Texas, to Ben J. and Lillie Hattie (Wellman) Kattner-Fickel. She retired after 39 years of service to Bank of America. . She graduated from Waco High School, Class of 1947. She married L. C. (Charles) Matthews and they shared 60 years of marriage, before Charles passed away on 2007.

She enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends, gardening, cooking, fishing and lots of fish frys. Family was especially important and she loved to take pictures at family get togethers and family vacation trips. She was a care giver for many different family members over the years. She was a happy person and was loved by all.

She was survived by two daughters, Linda Mae DeChaume of Crawford, and Debbie Matthews of Waco. 4 Grandchildren: Brenda Sivils and husband Randy, Sandra Thompson, Lisa Todaro and husband James, Jason DeChaume and wife Misty, 12 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
