Sherry Heath

Sherry Heath, of Van Alstyne, Texas, formerly of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2020. Memorial services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at the Valley Mills Church of Christ under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will follow the service.

Sherry Ann Heath was born in Gatesville, Texas, on Sept 6, 1946 to Howard and Reva (Ganus) Heath. She graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1965. She then attended Abilene Christian University and graduated Suma Cum Laude in1969. .

She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Reva Heath and two brothers Bobby and Gordon Heath and sister-in-law JoAnn Heath. She survived by her sister Barbara O'Banion and husband Bill, brother Jerry & wife Faye Heath, and with countless, cousins nieces, and nephews. .

In 1981 she and her business partner Brenda Hix moved to Van Alstyne where they begin to "plant their roots" In 1983 they purchased the "Durning House" B&B and on Feb 14th, 1990 they served their first meal. This would be the beginning of a legacy. Little did they know a simple "Home cooked Meal" would change and influence so many lives. Sherry would then become a part of many others family's from Birthday parties, anniversaries, wedding receptions, holiday parties, family reunions and even deaths the Durning House and Sherry would open there doors for those needing the warmth and Comfort of not only a good meal, with a down home environment but the love, joy and Compassion that would radiate from Sherry. She greeted everyone with a smile on her face and a hug around the neck. She will be missed by all who knew her.
