Sally Withrow McMillian

Sally (Lela Mae) Withrow McMillian, age 90, of Gatesville, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday August 8, 2022, at Providence Hospice at St. Catherine's. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Saturday, August 13th at the funeral home.  The funeral service will be 2 P.M. Sunday at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church in Valley Mills under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery.

Sally was born on April 26, 1932, in Bosqueville, Texas, to Harmon Otto and Georgia Bell (Slough) Willingham. One of her fondest memories as a young child living near Blackland Air Force Base at Bosqueville, President Truman's plane landed there and his car drove by their house. Sally waved at him and he waved back. She started school in Valley Mills and later graduated at Waco Tech High School. She married George McMillian July 19, 1993. He preceded her in death in 2020. Sally had previously worked at Texas Life Insurance, Waco Savings and Loan, Waco Fire Dept. for 11 years as secretary to Chief Summary, and retired from T.D.C.J.I.D in Gatesville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Elizabeth Jobe, Charlotte Pack, Opal Jones, Ellen Jiggs Mitchell, Dola Willingham, Sarah Willingham; brothers: Harmon, Norval, Harlan, Sherman, Leland Willingham.

She is survived by her children: son Lemuel Richard Withrow & wife Kathy Ann and daughter Kathy Lynn Withrow; grandchildren: Lynn Price, Tiffany Mixon & husband Brent, Megan Lynch & husband Johnny, Alex Withrow & wife Kassy; great grandchildren: Emily, Luke, Ayda, Levin, Natalie, Layla, Delila, Nathan, and Samuel. And her beloved cat Itabit.  She had many favorite nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Mom had a fun spirit, loved to laugh, and enjoyed living in Gatesville where she was able to sit on her porch and watch everyone go by.
