Robert Smith Dec. 30, 1924- June 9, 2012 Robert E. Smith, age 87, of Valley Mills passed away Saturday, June 9th at a Clifton Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Monday at the Patton Baptist Church with Rev. Pat Cummings and Rev. Chuck Belville officiating. Interment will be at the Smith Family Cemetery in Patton under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 - 7 P.M. Sunday at Foss Funeral Home. Robert was born December 30, 1924, in Oglesby, Texas. He was the son of William Albert and Evie Mae (Penton) Smith. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was in the Rhineland Campaign and Central Europe Campaign receiving 2 Bronze Stars. He was one of the original PRCA members. Robert married Evelyn Cooey on June 14, 1952, in Waco. She preceded him in death in 1997. He retired from Texas Department of Transportation in 1983. He had lived in the Patton community since 1956. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Rader. Survivors include a son: David Smith and wife, Sissy of Valley Mills; a daughter: Lori Ferguson and husband Paul of Belton; a brother: Edwin Smith; 2 sisters: Gladys Dupree and Christine Hausser; 5 grandchildren. Pallbearers are Bill Teichelman, Rusty Dossman, Zane Heupel, Nathan Ferguson, Allen Smith, and Travis Aaron Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Sammy Baggett, Ron Hodges, David Simons, and Paul Ferguson.
