Obituary

Nita Sell Williams
Aug. 3, 1960~Nov. 18, 2017

Nita Raye (Sell) Williams, 57, was called away by the Lord on November 18, 2017, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.  Graveside service will be held 1 P.M. Monday at Lanes Chapel Cemetery near Clifton, Texas, under the direction of  Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

She enjoyed having her morning coffee with oatmeal raisin cookies, reading her devotional bible, and working on her crafts.  She was a collector of many things from rocks that she would later paint and place on her porch to broken furniture that she found in an alley somewhere and exclaim, " I can sell that at the flea market!" And her eyes would just light up like a kid on Christmas morning. Mom was always a mother, not only to her children, but to her siblings as they were growing up. She could tell you how to fix anything, and if she didn't think you were getting' it , she would say, " Just give it here, let me show you how to do this!" As she was snatching whatever it was you had in your hands. Growing up, she yelled a lot, but it was because we knew how to push her buttons. Often times when she was mad at us, her lips would go flat, and we would start laughing, even though she tried not to give in to our giggling, she would, trying desperately to "unflatten" her lips, all the while forgetting why she was mad at us in the first place. Mother was the strongest woman we had ever known. Her life was never easy. Although she had little school education, she was educated in the trials of life and had learned how to make do with what she had. She cared and worried more about her children than she did herself. Like so many others, Mom had her share of heartache, love and laughter. Momma was a Christian, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a fighter, a survivor and an overcomer.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alton John and Betty Jo Sell, and five brothers.

She is survived by her husband Amado Benavides of Abilene, Grady Williams, father of her children:  Sally Jo, Margaret, Carrie, D' Nita, Justin andDarla Rocha, Christy, Cody and Cory; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, several brothers and sisters: Albert and Becky Sell, George, Faye, Melton and Vera Ann Hamon, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
