Nelson Clark McMillan
July 13, 1930 – January 11, 2023

Nelson "Clarkie" McMillan, age 92, of Cayote, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Cayote United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Cayote United Methodist Church.

Nelson was born July 13, 1930 in Cayote, Texas to John and Mattie (Bearden) McMillan. Attended school at Cayote and Valley Mills ISD. He married his soul mate Mary (Betty) McMillan on October 17, 1951, in Clifton, Texas. He was a lifelong member of Cayote United Methodist Church and he and Betty were active in the church and Cayote community.

He was born, raised, and lived his entire life on the family farm on the banks of Childress Creek. He farmed and ranched, raising cattle and his family with his wife Betty at his side. He had a love for the land, livestock, and his family's deep roots in the area. Always laughing and joking, he was a friend to any who knew him. Clarkie, known as Dad then PawPaw, always made a place for his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beside him, loving to teach them all he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mack, Jack, and Buck McMillan, Sisters Edna Gilmore, Joyce Higginbotham, Florence Sadler, and his wife of almost 70 years Betty McMillan.

He is survived by his sons Anthony McMillan and wife Dewana of Clifton; Dwight McMillan and wife Sara of Valley Mills; Grandchildren, Shae McMillan and wife Cheryl; Kimberly Kelly; Leigh Ann Poulter and husband JoeDan; Kyle McMillan; Kurt McMillan and wife Sarah Beth; Kennan McMillan and wife Maci; Great Grandchildren, Beth Ann McMillan, Bailey McMillan, Kameryn Kelly, Peyton Kelly, Beau Poulter, River Poulter, Mattie Beth McMillan, and Kase McMillan.

Pallbearers will be Shae McMillan, Kyle McMillan, Kurt McMillan, Kennan McMillan, JoeDan Poulter, and Cody Reeves.

The family would like to thank the staff of Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility and Hospice Sunset for the care given to Clarkie. Your compassion and care was deeply felt and appreciate d.
