Michael McClain

Michael McClain, age 73, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away at a Waco Hospital on August 23, 2017.  Memorial graveside service will be 2 P.M. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Valley Mills Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Memorials may be made to the local Boy Scout Troop.

Michael McClain, also known as Mike or Mac was born on January 22, 1944, in Colorado City, Texas, to Albert and Mattie (Sharp) McClain.  He was a graduate of Newman (Sweetwater) High School in May of 1962.  He played center on the Mustangs football team his sophomore thru senior years.  He loved his graduating class members and hardly missed any of their reunions every five years beginning with the 20th in 1982.  Mike was a Vietnam Air Force Veteran.  Before retiring he was formerly employed as an engineer with Wellex Corp. in Houston, Texas and with People for Progress in Sweetwater.  Mike was an avid gun collector, guitar player, hunter, and fisherman.  He enjoyed many hunting trips to East Texas and would sit for hours telling about his experiences.  He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America and he also enjoyed visiting with his friends at the local coffee shop.  He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and his best friends Gene and Margaret Browning.

Survivors include his children, Michael McClain and wife, Darlene; Melissa Boyter and husband, Stephen; Shelly Mangham all of Valley Mills; 7 grandchildren and a great-grandson.  He is also survived by friends Jason and Clint Browning.
