Mary Oleta Martin was born on July 14, 1920, in Jacksboro, Texas, to Aubie and Nellie (Koger) Flemister. After graduating from high school, she met Jack Martin and they were married in December 1938. Jack and Oleta made Valley Mills their lifelong home. They had one son, a daughter and a nephew who made his home with them following the death of his mother in 1956. Oleta's personality and beauty were infectious and all who met her knew she was very special. She lovingly served her family and others through her church, Sunday School, and FMUC women's ministry, being a member for over 56 years. She was employed many years at Valley Mills Telephone Company and retired from Air Page Answering Service in Waco. Following their retirement, one of her and Jack's greatest joys was spending time at their farm in Jacksboro, especially fishing and hunting with the grandchildren, walking and enjoying nature. They had many good times traveling and camping in a travel trailer. In later years Oleta shared much time visiting and traveling with her sister Johnie Massie. Oleta was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Martin, her brother H.O. Flemister, sisters Juanita Ward, Silvia Bell, Johnie Massie, and granddaughter Kristi Lynn Martin.
