Mary Hallene Downing, age 95, of North Richland Hills, formerly of Valley Mills, peacefully passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016. Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Valley Mills Church of Christ. Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Mrs. Downing was born January 16, 1921, in Vernon, Texas, to George and Hallie Stafford. She attended college in Portales, New Mexico, where she met and married Willis Downing on Dec. 19, 1940. Mrs. Downing was a stay-at-home mom for their 6 children. She loved to travel with her husband and was very active with church activities, gardening, crocheting, and painting. She enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 2006, she moved from Valley Mills to the Ft. Worth area to be close to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis Downing and a son-in-law Charles Parrish.
Survivors include 3 sons: Van Downing and wife Cindy, Larry Downing and wife Belinda, Clovis Downing and wife Anne; 3 daughters: Marilyn Chapman and husband Carl, Patty Parrish, Deborah Hendley and husband Gary; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
