Mary Elizabeth Baker passed away at her home in China Spring on September 9, 2011, surrounded by her family and friends plus Gods mercy and grace. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 13th a the First Baptist Church of China Spring with Pastor Michael Copeland officiating under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. After the funeral service Mary's earthly body will be cremated. Her ashes will he held by the family until she is joined by her husband. At that time their ashes will be commingled and spread with their memories on their beloved Baker Ranch. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Mary was born on January 16, 1936, in Riesel, Texas, to Hawtense (Bartlett) and Joe Crafton. She married Bob Baker on June 30, 1959, and was married for 52 years. Together Bob and Mary spent over 20 years taking care of foster children from the Methodist Children's Home. Mary taught public school for 25 years and retired from China Spring in May 1991. She was excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking, art, and playing games with her friends. Mary was also a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of China Spring. She will always be remembered by her friends ands family for her kind heart and willingness to help others. Mary is survived by husband, Bob Baker; sister, Lois Hays and husband Harry; adopted son, Mike Baker; son, Donald Baker and wife Sara; daughter, Terri Baker-Haberl and husband Bill; foster son, James Kelly; grandchildren, Bailey Haberl, Rayce Baker, Skyler Haberl, and Charlye Baker.
