Marvin Dale Herring Sr. age 76, of Valley Mills passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be 5 - 7 P.M. Tuesday, March 22nd at Foss Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date under direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Marvin was born on June 27, 1939, in Gatesville, Texas, to Marvin Monroe and Syble (Stevens) Herring. He was a Vietnam Army veteran. Retired from military after twenty-four years. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann Cummings on March 4, 1961. He had lived in the Valley Mills area since 1978. He had previously worked at Huck Manufacturing and retired from PCA Inc. in 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Herring; a sister Jeanie Chutes; a son: Marvin (Junior) Herring and wife, Kellie; a daughter: Tracy Flaherty and husband Al; 4 grandchildren: Michael Hoffman and wife Jonnie, James Ray Hoffman, Kourtnie Herring, Kendyl Herring, 3 great grandchildren: Kaison, Payton, Hunter; a care taker and close friend Cherry.
