Marvin Cole
Nov. 11, 1944 - June 15, 2024
Our hero, Marvin Cole, embarked on his eternal journey to meet our Lord and Savior on June 15, 2024. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the knowledge that he is now in the company of his beloved family and friends, who eagerly awaited his arrival. Marvin's unwavering faith, knowledge, and wisdom were not just personal treasures, but tools he used to guide and mentor his family, friends, and numerous youths, helping them to understand and know the God he so deeply loved.
Marvin and Joyce Rycroft married on May 31, 1974, and celebrated 50 years together last weekend with family and friends at Lake Granbury. Marvin was always involved in Melissa and Phillips' lives by coaching t-ball, baseball, and softball. He traveled many miles watching Melissa play volleyball, and Phillip singing in high school and college. His favorite seat was in the audience, watching Melissa and Phil sing and dance in the Pop's Sensation in high school.
Marvin thought nothing topped his kids until Taylan, Cannon, and Farrah Cole made him the proud Granddaddy. He got up every day and asked where we were going and who we were going to watch. From softball, soccer, volleyball, dance recitals, and birthday parties, he was always ready to hit the road. One of his last adventures was navigating life with a teenager when he welcomed Mason Hall into his life to love and take care of.
Marvin was fun, funny, and sometimes famous for his life adventures, especially his Highland Hills shenanigans. He and lifelong friend Ken Becker gave our family the best times as Carla and Joyce prayed that they would come home all in one piece. He loved his country and was a proud Marine. Marvin was a great husband, daddy, grandaddy, and friend. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 40 years and retired in 2006, becoming the family cook, lawn guy, and Uber. The only thing he charged for was that anyone getting out of his truck had to be happy and know how much they were loved.
Marvin leaves his wife, Joyce, daughter Melissa Cole, Sara Ward, Taylan Cole, Hanna Ward, Mia Ward, and Nathan Garcia; son Phillip Cole, Casey, Cannon, and Farrah Cole; great nephew, Mason Hall; and extended family, Ken and Carla Becker and their families to share his legacy and memory forever. We are genuinely grateful to the Tweedy Road friends who were always there when we needed them.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Anna May Cole, brother Ernest Cole, sister Donell Turnage, father and mother-in-law James and Sara Rycroft, and many friends and family.
