Marshall Lynne Garner

Marshall was born on September 5, 1942 in Lampasas County, Texas. The son of French Edmund and Clara Belle White Garner, his boyhood and youth were spent working on the family farm. His love of sports was born and developed when young and while at Lampasas High, he pursued football and baseball, and even entertained dreams of playing major league ball for the Brooklyn Dodgers. While sports dreams were curtailed by injury, he remained a loyal fan to the LA Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys forever. Turning to college, he studied business, for which he had a natural affinity. This knowledge would serve him well all his life.
Two of his favorite activities, business and travel, allowed him to make friends of all kinds. His work included home builder, city councilman, retail management, and truck driver with his wife, Karen. He was also quite an accomplished tomato gardener and bee keeper. Marshall was well known for his calm and positive disposition, his objective ear, and his robust appetite for country style foods. At any given time, he would greet you warmly, advise you wisely, and feed you generously.
Marshall spoke kindly and remembered his own mother for teaching him to speak only words that lifted. Marshall was quick to encourage faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and regularly cited the wisdom in one of his life verses, "In all things give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
He is preceded in death by his father, French Edmund and mother Clara, siblings, Jarvis, Wilbur, Richard, F.E., and Edna Garner.
He is survived by wife, Karen Schroeder Garner, and his two daughters, Marsha Dammers, Michelle DeLeon (Chilo), and children by marriage, Kevin Cray (Shannon), Valerie Smith (Shawn), Kristine Martinez (Steven), Tim Cray (Ronda), Jon Cray (Jodi), Stephanie Northup, Cyndi Cray, 23 grand children and 11 great grand children.
He will be sorely missed by many. Though we weep today for his departure from this life, we can hear the Lord Jesus greeting him, "well done my good and faithful servant… enter though into the joy of the Lord."
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Apostolic Tabernacle, 705 Old Ranch Rd., China Spring, Texas 76633
