Louise Powers

Louise Powers, who would have been 100 years old in March, passed away on Jan. 19, 2018, in a Clifton nursing home.  Funeral service  will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Valley Mills with burial to follow at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Visitation will be 5 - 7 P.M. Monday at Foss Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the Valley Mills Cemetery, PO Box 253, Valley Mills, Texas 76689.

Louise was born March 9, 1918, in Norton, Texas, to Frank and Beatrice (West) Watson.  She married Guy Powers, on Feb. 5, 1938, in Abilene, Texas.  Louise move to Valley Mills in 1949, from Abilene, Texas.  She was a girl scout leader for 5 years, had worked as a Valley Mills telephone operator for 10 years, and worked for Air Page Answering Service for 17 years.  She was the oldest member of the Valley Mills First Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, John Powers, her daughter, Sherry  Dollins, her brother, Wallace and sister Nena.  Survivors include 2 grandsons:  Shannon Dollins and his wife Shelley, Dylan Powers,  3 great grandchildren:  Ray Dollins, Shayley Binger, and Savannah Binger.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Dollins, James Dollins, Scott Healy, and Chris Stone.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Houston, Jim Houston, Garry Houston, Charlie Powers, Jim Powers, Jerry Powers, and Vernon Willingham.
