Laverne E. Clingerman March 4, 1939~April 14, 2014 LaVerne E Clingerman, age 75 of Valley Mills was called home on April 14, 2014. Funeral service will be 10 A.M. Friday at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be 5- 7 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. LaVerne was born on March 4, 1939, in Marshalltown, Iowa to Everette and Doris (Brown) Clingerman. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1963. He worked for John Deere Company in Hubbard, Iowa, and then owned his own service station in Des Moines, Iowa. He was employed at Armour and Company and retired from there after 24 years. He married T. J. Flater on March 10, 1962, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Michael Brown. LaVerne enjoyed gardening, fishing and his family. Survivors include his wife T. J. of Valley Mills; 4 children: Marcia Woodlock and husband Tracey of Gatesville, Melinda Clingerman of Valley Mills, Monte Clingerman and wife Diane of Mechanicsburg, PA, Murry Clingerman of Gatesville: a grandson: Quentin Clingerman of Mechanicsburg, PA; a granddaughter: Cassie Perez and husband Ruben of Gatesville; 2 great grandchildren: Roman and Brooke Perez of Gatesville; an adopted son Dallas Becker and wife Dawn of Berlin, Germany; adopted grandchildren: Jacob, Katherine, and Jack Henry Becker of Germany; a brother: William Clingerman of North Carolina. Honorary Pallbearers: Cassie Perez, Quentin Clingerman, Jacob Becker, Kathrine Becker, Jack Henry Becker, Roman Perez, and Brooke Perez.
