Obituary

Kenneth Ray Brown
March 20, 1938 ~ January 20 , 2021

Kenneth Brown, age 82, of China Spring, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 26th at Searsville Country Church with Pastor John Kennedy officiating under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. State mandated social distancing will be practiced at this event and masks are required. A reception will follow the service at the church.

Kenneth Ray Brown was born on March 20, 1938 to Nathan and Clara (Lane) Brown. He had a sister, Dorothy, that was fifteen years older than him. She married Lawrence Jobe the year Kenneth was born. The Brown's life was in Waco, Rock Creek and Patrick most of Kenneth's life.

Kenneth and Jean first met each other when they were about five years old. The Brown's lived on North Fourth Street and Jean's family lived on fifth Street in Waco. They would play in the alley with all of the neighborhood kids that were around from 1945- 1947. Kenneth's family moved to Rock Creek and then to Patrick. He spent most of his life from about 10 years to 16 years old fishing, hunting, collecting arrowheads, and driving all the kids to the church.

In the summer of 1954, one of Kenneth's school buddies, (Jimmy Mayfield) set him up a little blind date with Jean. That's the year they started to high school. Jean went to Waco High and Kenneth went to China Spring. They graduated in May of 1957 and got married on August 23, 1957.  Their first Christmas Kenneth got a shot gun, Jean got a washing machine (would you know that).

Kenny, their son, was born April 1, 1959. He grew up in Patrick and graduated from China Spring in 1977. They moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado and built a log cabin house that they loved. He married Kathy in 1985. Kathy has always been like a daughter to Kenneth and Jean. They always loved her so much. Kenny and Kathy had a son, Nathan (Nukya). He was born July 5, 1987. Nukya grew up in East Texas and graduated in 2006. Kenny's family went to Honduras for five years, there Nukya met Wendy and they got married in 2013. They all came back to Texas in 2014. Nathan and Wendy have a girl, Nikki. She is a joy to the whole family.

Kenneth and Jean would have celebrated their sixty-third anniversary August 23, 2021. Kenneth did everything in his life that was on his bucket list. He had a wonderful family life, went fishing, hunting (with his brother-in-law, Don, whom loved like he was his own brother), camping, collected arrowheads, took vacations, went on cruises, played games every Friday or Saturday night with life long friends, and loved all his church family.

God called him home January 20, 2021.  What a wonderful life!
