July 15, 1943 ~ Oct. 28, 2021

Kathryn (Kathy) Pettit, age 78, passed away October 28, in Waco, Texas, after a short illness.  M emorial services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Valley Mills with Pastor Jaime McGlothlin officiating under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  The service will be live streamed from the church.

Kathryn (Kathy) Ann Pettit nee Westphal, was born to Clarence and Priscilla Westphal on July 15th 1943 in Madison, Wisconsin. Her family moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1946 where they made their home. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1961. She met and fell in love with Thomas Frank Pettit in 1963 and they were married June 1st 1963 after a brief courtship. Together they had two daughters, Tracy Lynn in 1966 and Gina Renee in 1970.

Kathy was employed at Carolina Soap & Candle Makers as a scheduler for years, then became the executive assistant to the VP at Hoffmaster Paper Co. where she could type 120 words a minute without error, until 1985 when the family relocated to Valley Mills, Texas, where collectively, they started The Prop Doctor, and became active members of the First United Methodist Church and the Valley Mills community.

Upon retirement, Kathy took on many temporary part time jobs within the community to stay active. She was an at home caregiver for many, but most people will remember her smiling face and Wiethorns and Brookshire Bros. Kathy will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit. She never met a stranger and was trusted and adored by everyone who knew her. She would open her home to anyone in need and always treated people with dignity and grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Priscilla Westphal, her brother and sister in laws Seymore and Dorothy Hassler, brother and sister in laws Stub and Lois Manthie, brother and sister in laws Ernest and Patricia Pettit, sister in law Shirley Pettit, Brother in law Gene Harnitz, Son in law Jason Marr, nephews Dave Pettit, Todd Pettit and Larry Pettit, and niece Dawn Hart.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Tom Pettit, Daughters Tracy Marr and Gina Pettit, Grandchildren Sean Valdez and Diana Klose, Taylor Marr and Jeffery Taylor, Jamie Marr and Wade Ringo, Lauren Stone and Wesley White, Christopher and Bethany Hargrove, Kevin Hargrove and Kathryn Hargrove, Great Grandchildren Olivia Valdez, Emmaline Taylor, and Rhoslyn Marr, and numerous siblings, nephews and nieces.
