Joe R. Morgan Mar. 10, 1933 ~ Feb. 10, 2014 Joe R Morgan, 80, of Valley Mills, passed away Monday Feb 10, 2014. A visitation will be held Thursday, 5 - 7 P.M., Feb 13, 2014, at Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Joe was born March 10, 1933 in Wichita Falls, TX. to JR and LaVita (Smith) Morgan. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1951. He then went on to Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. TX. Before finishing, he entered the Army during the Korean War, starting out in boot camp at FT Bliss, TX. He trained in White Sands, NM where he manned the Nike Ajax Missile Battery. He was then was stationed in Buffalo NY. After the military, he went back to continue his education where he majored in Agriculture. It was at this time he met Joyce Hipp of Chrystal City, TX. The two were married July 27, 1957. Joe spent his entire career working for the State of Texas with the Texas Water Commission from 1958 to 1988. At the time of his retirement he was the District 7 Director. After retirement, Joe and Joyce enjoyed camping in south Texas. He spent much of his time restoring cars and was partial to VW beetles. Joe was a regular at the Valley Mills Coffee Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Clyde R. Morgan all of Ft. Worth. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Morgan; children, Melissa Ramey and husband Randall of The Woodlands, Ray and Debbie Morgan of Valley Mills, Meredith Tull and husband Steve of Valley Mills; grandchildren, Perry Ramey and wife Beth of Houston, Morgan Ramey of Dallas, Madeline Ramey of College Station, Lilly and Eva Morgan, and Lauren Tull of Austin; Great-grandson, Carter Ramey; Sister, Vita Mae Hoover and husband Alex of Ft. Worth; Sister-in-law, Dorothy Morgan of Ft Worth; Brother in law, Ralph Hipp of Valley Mills; and many beloved nieces and nephews; and Emma Speer.
