Johnny Lee Cummings Jr.

Johnny Lee (Bud) Cummings, Jr.  age 82, of Valley Mills and Cayote Community was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 25, 2019, surrounded by family.  Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Monday January 28, 2019 at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Sunday at the Foss Funeral Home in Valley Mills.   In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to the Valley Mills Education Foundation.

Johnny was born September 30, 1936, in Clifton, Texas  to Johnny and Florence Cummings.   He graduated from Valley Mills High in 1955.   He married Nina Kiser on February 6, 1956 in Durant, Oklahoma.   His love for his "Honey" remained strong after her passing; he visited her daily, sometimes twice, over 14 years at her resting place.  Johnny opened his first business Johnny's Gulf Full Service gas station in 1964; Johnny's Texaco off I35 in Waco, TX sold it 1989.  After a short retirement, he spent the next 30 years he managing a Diamond Shamrock; from working part time at Valero, retiring at the age of 81.   He loved his family and the friendships he developed through the years.   He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, and he had a special connection with his great grandchildren who brought him happiness when he could no longer leave his home.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Cummings, a daughter Donna Lynn Cummings, his parents, sisters: Doris Cummings, Dorothy Trollinger.

Johnny is survived by his children: Allen Ray Cummings and wife Wanda; Brenda Thiele and husband Ben; Johnny Cummings III; Alice West and husband David. Grandchildren: Christy Tanner, Robert Cummings, Allen Cummings, Ben Thiele, Jr, Mary Alice Johnson, Kimberly Thiele, April Cummings, Johnny Cummings IV, Krista Cummings, Kaleb Fowlkes, Maranda West, Boyd Fowlkes, Shelby Shilling.  Great-Grandchildren: Brittany Tanner, Derick Tanner, Zack Cummings, Mathew Cummings, Kamrynn Cummings, Kaitlyn Thiele, Erin Thiele, Heather Thiele, John Johnson, Abby Johnson, Coltin Johnson, Kaiden Moore, Kamryn Moore, Khyia Moore, Logan Cummings (4th Generation), Stella Cummings, Baby Shilling.
