John Darrell Hinton May 2, 1944 ~ July 10, 2015 John Darrell Hinton of Valley Mills passed away Friday, July 10, 2015. Funeral Services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday, July 14th at Searsville Country Church, 686 FM 217, in Valley Mills. Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Visitation will be Monday 5 - 7 P.M. at Foss Funeral Home. Darrell was born May 2, 1944, in Meridian, Texas, to parents John P. and Constance (Carleson) Hinton. He was an Eagle Scout at the age of 14. He attended school in Valley Mills and was an all-star athlete throughout his high school years and selected as All VMHS, He attended Tarleton State University on a football scholarship and finished his college work adt Sam Houston with a degree in Economics. Darrell started his teaching career in west Texas. He was in the masonry business for a number of years. He returned to teaching in 1992. His love and understanding of children brought great respect from his students as they have still come to visit in the past few years. Darrell and Janice renewed their friendship in 2007 and married on November 24th of the same year. They soon retired to the farm that had been in the Hinton family for over 100 years. He was quite proud of his Norwegian heritage. He enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking coffee with Janice and counting railroad cars. Darrell never met a stranger and when he did, he always left them smiling. Darrell loved life and lived it to its fullest every day. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Darrell is survived by his wife Janice; his son David and wife Michelle of Valley Mills; his daughter Jennifer Warner and husband Matt of Marshall, Texas; step daughters Lisa Prescher and husband, Bryan of Clifton; and Lori Gibson of Raleigh, N. C.; grandchildren Sheyanne Hinton, Cross Warner, Lauren and Brianna Prescher, Taylor Goodall, and many wonderful friends and relatives.
