Joe Lee Sears, age 86, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away at his residence surrounded by family on June 16, 2018.  A visitation will be 1 to 2 P.M. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Valley Mills Church of Christ.   At the wishes of Joe Lee Sears a private family graveside service will be held later.

Joe Lee was born on April 24, 1932 in Valley Mills to Joseph LeGrande and Opal (Odle) Sears.  He was a graduate of Valley Mills High School.  He married Lola Beth Pennington on June 4, 1950, in Valley Mills.  Early in life at the age of twelve he began is mechanic career working for Baker Ekrut in Valley Mills.  He owned Sears Service Station in Mosheim and continued being a mechanic for the duration of his life.   He has served as a deacon and an elder at the Valley Mills Church of Christ for over forty-four years.  He was on the board of directors for the Valley Mills Cemetery Association, formerly served on school board for both Mosheim I.S.D. and Valley Mills I.S.D.  Joe Lee formerly worked for Rocketdyne of McGregor, A. O. Smith Company and Marathon LeTourneau Co. both of Waco, Texas and Kentucky. He also worked for Wales Industries of  Waco for 24 years.  Joe Lee was a humble man and was proud to be your friend and was always there to help you.

Survivors include his wife Beth Sears and 3 sons:  Jim Sears and wife Gail of Clifton, Jody Sears of Valley Mills, Jerry Sears and wife Janice of Valley Mills; grandchildren:  Karra and David Erickson of Flower Mound, Courtney and Michael Ross of Allen, Joel and Nikki Sears of Grand Junction, Co., Josh Sears of Valley Mills,  Jared and Stephanie Sears of Katy, Jordan Lee Sears (deceased) and wife Lacy Sears of Waco, Mekala Sears of Speegleville, Jerilyn and Kirk Schafer of Spring, Jake and Michele Sears of Burleson, and 12 great grandchildren.
