Obituary

Rev. Jimmy A. Patterson
July 19, 1937 ~ Feb. 25, 2019

Rev. Jimmy Arnold Patterson Sr., age 81, passed away on Feb. 24, 2019. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and cremation center. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church.

He was born on July 19, 1937, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Arnold and Jewel Patterson. What a wonderful man of God! Dad was a great Royal Ranger Leader for many years. He never backed down from anything God wanted him to do. He always trusted God to lead and direct his path on a daily basis. He was co-Pastor at Liberty Tabernacle in the 1970's in Ft. Worth. He built a Assembly of God church in Mason, Texas. He pastor in Weslaco, Texas, and in West, Texas. He was a pastor an evangelist and loved to witness to anyone about Jesus. When the Assemblies asked him what he would do if they didn't give him his preaching license. He said, it didn't matter cause they did not call him to preach, God did. He was ordained with the Assemblies of God for 45 years.

Dad would have given hou his last dollar or coat to any person in need. He would pray with you on the street corner or at an alter. And through his life he did just that. He was a great mechanic and paint and body man earlier in life but his main objective was to follow Jesus. He loved to fish and spend time with all of his family. He though every child should experience fishing and camping on a creek bank. He loved to be outdoors and enjoy the vastness of God's creation on this earth. He loved to travel with Mom (Sue Patterson) before he demise in 2011. These words do not do him justice for there is a life time of wonderful between each line that I have given you today. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Ted Patterson and Jess Paul Patterson.

He has 4 children: (Dianna Patterson Armstrong who preceded him in 2000) Julia Leeper, Cynthia Anthony, Jimmy Patterson Jr. who currently reside in Valley Mills; grandchildren: Jeffrey Thrift, Andrew Jones, Jennifer Patterson, Matthew Anthony, Jeremy Anthony, Amanda Armstrong, Daniel Armstrong; and 8 great grandchildren.
