Jimmie Wade Abel August 22, 1936 ~ May 18, 2015 Jimmie Wade Abel of Crawford, TX was called home to be with his lord on May 18, 2015 after a month long battle with pneumonia. Services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the First Baptist Church Crawford, Texas with Pastor Jeff Gravens officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be 5 - 7 P.M. Friday at Foss Funeral Home in Valley Mills Texas. Jimmie was born August 22, 1936 in Valley Mills, TX to Jesse Wade & Bessie Mary Abel. Upon graduating from Crawford High School in 1955 Jimmie headed to San Diego CA to join the US Navy where he served four years leaving as a Communications Specialist. While on leave visiting his family in Waco, TX Jimmie met the love of his life Mary Louise Cleveland. They were soon married on March 26, 1960 and spent 44 years together until Louise was called home in 2004. Jimmie retired as a Lieutenant from the Waco Fire Department after 34 years of service in 1993. Jimmie loved Jesus, loved his family and loved his Crawford community. He was an active member at First Baptist Church in Crawford since he was five years old and served as one of the deacons there for most of his adult life. Jimmie was very instrumental in the development of the Crawford Ambulance Service and served as one of the operators for many years as well as helping out with the Volunteer Fire Dept. Jimmie enjoyed talking on his ham radio, playing 42 with his friends, camping and hanging out with his Good Sam's Camper Club members. Jimmie is preceded in death by his beloved wife Louise, parents Wade & Bessie Abel. He is survived by his children, son Mike Abel & wife Cherry Kay, daughter Laura Ann Kaulfus & Husband David. Six Grandchildren, Phillip Abel, Courtney Kaulfus, Colbey Kaulfus Mandi Shahvandi, Katie Shahvandi, Patrick Abel. Two sisters Judy Clemons and Janie Abel, companion & special friend Norma Lowery and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Crawford in Jimmie's name.
