Obituary

J. C. (Cletis) Wall, age 90, of Valley Mills, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 27, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 5th at the Valley Mills Church of Christ. Jessie Cletis Wall was born October 19, 1921, in Nocona, Texas, the son of Arvel and Bessie Wall. He married Margaret Moore in Love County, Oklahoma, on September 15, 1942. They shared 69 wonderful years of marriage together. Cletis was an Army veteran of World War II with 3 1/2 years service. After the war he moved to Valley Mills to become the manager of the Valley MIlls Telephone Company, retiring from Alltel in 1984. He was a volunteer fireman for 33 years, served on the city council for 12 years, and was an elder of the Valley Mills Church of Christ for 56 years. He was a strong supporter of mission efforts in Honduras. He had a gift for unifying the church body and always had an encouraging word for everyone. He loved to hunt and fish, traveling with friends, and was an avid Texas Rangers fan. He enjoyed gardening and sharing with friends, including shelled pecans. As a friend remarked, "Even though he was small in stature, he was a giant of a man." He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Valley Mills; two daughters, Linda Clark and husband O.A. of Mineral Wells and Jill Lewis and husband Johnny of Abilene; four grandchildren, Christie White and husband Brian of Round Rock, Paul Clark and wife Misty of Mineral Wells, Ryan Lewis and wife Brittany of Abilene, and Blake Lewis and wife Stephanie of Abilene; five great-grandchildren, Connor and Lauren White, Caleb Clark, and Braden and Camden Lewis; a brother, Charlie Wall and wife Madrey of Crowley; and four nieces and six nephews he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Archie, Raymond, Orel, and Haskel, and one sister, Reba. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be send either to the Valley Mills Church of Christ or to the Valley Mills Fire Department.
