Jessie Lee Bishop Sr., age 75, passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends. Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jessie was born on Feb. 28, 1944, in Junction, Texas. He grew up cutting cedar post, farming, and ranching, then went to west Texas and worked in the oil fields for 16 years. He moved back to Crawford and drove a 18 wheeler for the past 32 years. He semi-retired and worked for the Gohlke Family Farms for the last few years. Then in March of 2018 he had as triple bypass and had to give up truck driving. He touched a lot of lives, he always had room for one more, whether they were kin or not he made them family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Corrine Gartrell, his father Wedith Bishop Sr.; 2 brothers, John Howard and Lonnie Ray Bishop; 2 sisters, Dorothy Bell and Sybil Lorraine; his daughter Vickie Ann West; several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lou Ella DeChaume Bishop, son Jessie Lee Bishop Jr. of Georgetown, 3 brothers: Junior Bishop of Midland, Thomas Bishop of Mound, William Bishop of Flat; 2 sisters: Mary Margaret Newman, and Hershal Jackson of Gatesville; 3 granddaughters; Terry West, Chelsea Mott, and Natasha West all of Crawford; 2 grandsons: Derrick and Drake Bishop of Georgetown; 3 great grandsons and 7 great granddaughters
