Jerry Roberson, age 89, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away in a Arlington Hospital on December 14, 2022. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.
Jerry was born at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas, on Jan. 21, 1933, to Garnet (Simpson) and Lloyd A. Roberson. Jerry graduated from Valley Mills High School and from Baylor University with a degree in Business Management and Business Administration. He was also in ROTC.
Jerry was a musician. He played the trombone in high school and the pipe organ while at Baylor. Jerry played the organ at church. Jerry was a member of Patton Baptist Church when he was young and later was a member of the Lutheran Church. He had a beautiful tenor voice.
Jerry often said he had only been in the hospital once in his life. That was when he was 5 years old and he had his tonsils removed.
Jerry was an officer in the U.S. Air Force; he handled the data collected by Gary Powers who flew spy missions over Russia during the cold war. He was amused that his body guard was a white Russian.
Jerry married a girl from Cransfill Gap Ann Ruth Thompson. He is survived by his wife Ann and a step-daughter Vickie Collier of Arlington, Tx.
