Jim (James Lee) Allen, age 59, of California, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Cedars-Sinai Hospice in Los Angeles, California, with his caregiver and friend with him. Private graveside services will be held at Scrutchfield Cemetery at a later date under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and cremation center.
Jim was born April 6, 1957, in Austin, Texas. He was the son of James Robert (Bob) and (B.J.) Betty Jo (Slaughter) Allen. Jim went to school in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa. From there he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked at several area hospitals. He was a lab technician in research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, when he had to retire due to his health. He was preceded in death by his father Bob Allen. A special thanks to his caregiver and friend Benjamin Rigglan and to the hospice nurses who cared for him.
Survivors include his mother, B.J. Allen of Waco, formerly of Valley Mills, and several cousins.
