Obituary

James Aubrey Kilpatrick
December 31, 1935 ~ April 25, 2023

James Aubrey Kilpatrick, age 87, of Whitney, Texas, formerly of Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023, with his best friend, Mary Byrd, by his side.  Visitation will be 12:30 - 1:30 PM, Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Foss Funeral Home with graveside services following at 2 PM at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Jim was born on December 31, 1935, at the family home in Meridian, Texas.  He was the only child of Aubrey James Kilpatrick and Johnnie Mosette (Johnson) Kilpatrick.   Although, Jim was born with Cerebral palsy, with the tireless dedication of his mother and his determination he refused to be limited by his disability.  When Jim was a young child, his family moved to San Francisco where he received services from Shriner's hospital.  Jim was employed at his father's service station until 1968 when the family returned to Temple, Texas where Jim ran the family laundromat for several years and then was employed by the City of Temple for almost 20 years.  Jim was proud to live to the age of 87 and often reminded us "I was not supposed to live this long" and "I've lived longer than any other male in the Kilpatrick family".  He was loved by everyone who met him and blessing to all who knew him.

Jim was survived by cousins Doug (Mary) Byrd of Whitney, Texas, Gwena (Dave) Burns of Tucson, Arizona, Patsy Dufour of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and numerous cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Country Club Retirement Center and Providence Hospice for their care of Jim. The staff at CCRC went above and beyond, in taking such good care of "J.J."  Their gentle loving care was such a blessing to the family.
