Jack Albert Marrs

Jack Albert Marrs, 90, of Valley Mills passed away at his residence on September 28, 2016.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday October 2nd, at 2 p.m. at the Scrutchfield Cemetery, outside of Valley Mills.  Directions to cemetery.  Turn off of Hwy 6 on to FM217, at the Y stay right on FM854, gate is on left between 2 mobile homes.

Jack was born October 8, 1925 in Moody, Texas to George Marrs and Rosa Goad Marrs.  He graduated from Moody High School and attended Clifton Junior College.
Jack and his parents moved to Valley Mills in 1942. He was a rancher all of his adult life.  Jack also worked at Rocketdyne, General Tire, and retired from Baylor University in 1992.  He was a long time deacon at the First Baptist Church. Jack loved to go "a fishin" with his family in Las Vegas, Oklahoma, and Bossier City and playing the best pranks on his "wife's daughter's husband", JD.   Jack never met a stranger and was never without a story to tell.  He was the ultimate Husband, Daddy, Father-in-law, Honorary Grandfather, and Friend.

Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Haroldean Graves Marrs, his baby daughter, Gayle Cross and her husband, JD of Valley Mills, brother-in-laws H.A. Graves and wife Dolores of Valley Mills, Jim Graves and wife Valerie of Little River, sister-in-laws, Doris Graves of Valley Mills, and Ada Hamel and husband Elmo of New Braunfels, numerous nieces and nephews, his honorary grandkids, JW, Candie, Cody, and Jason Garrett of Belton, his special friend, Jim Kinney of Valley Mills, and his granddawg, Boots.
