Irene McLennan May 20, 1926~Nov. 5, 2012 On Monday morning, November 5, 2012 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas Irene Tucker McLennan departed this life and entered into eternal rest. Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Saturday at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Irene was born May 19, 1926 to the late Coleman and Mary Tucker in McGregor, Texas. She grew up in McGregor and attended school at G. W. Carver. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Irene was united in marriage to Ernest R. McLennan Jr. in August of 1947. To this union four children were born. The couple raised their family in Valley Mills, Texas. Irene served as a member of the Library Society and was a member of the Bosque Valley Heritage Society. She also served as the treasurer of the Hillcrest Cemetery Association. Upon the closure of West Point United Methodist church in Valley Mills, Irene became a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under Pastor Michael Slaughter. Irene was a dedicated and devoted member. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. McLennan, Jr., parents, Coleman and Mary Tucker, sisters, Annie Mae Bolden, Eva Bell Anderson, Rosie Lee Boson, Gertha Lee Tucker and Blanche Ella Morgan; brothers; Thurman, Coleman, Jr. and Herman Tucker and one great-granddaughter, Shania Mackie. Survivors include her four children, Geneva (Archie, Sr.) Watley of McGregor, Gail Mackie of McGregor, Robert (Mary) McLennan, Sr. of DeSoto and Donald McLennan of Waco; eight grandchildren Latasha Watley , DeKecha Shepherd, Jumarr (Marietta) Mackie, Archie Watley, Jr, Robert McLennan, Jr, Taheerah (Adolfo, Jr) Flores, Alesha McLennan and Briana McLennan; seven great-granchildren Kennith Mackie, Tyson Klander, Adolfo "Trey" Flores III, Aniyah Flores, Adian Kong, Malia Mackie and Chaz Watley; one sister, Dorothy Gee and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
