Ira Lewis January 3, 1921 ~ June 28, 2013 Ira Lewis, age 92, of Valley Mills, formerly of Speegleville, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, in a local nursing home. Graveside service will be 10 A.M. Monday at the Crawford Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation will be 4 - 6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Ira was born January 3, 1921, in Mart, Texas, to Emmitt and Beulah (Price) Lewis. He was married to Ruth Clausell on Nov. 18, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a grandson and 3 sisters. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Ira was very active in starting the Speegleville Volunteer Fire Department. He delivered propane for Empire & Mid-Tex Propane. He had worked for Hubey Reese Grocery Company and was a farmer. Ira had drove school bus for both Speegleville and China Spring Schools. Survivors include sons: James Lewis and wife Kay of Valley Mills, Ira Lynn Lewis of China Spring, daughter: Irma Faye Hurl and husband Colin of Wichita, Kansas; a brother: Edward Lewis of Crawford; grandchildren: Johnny, Hallie, Bobby, Christy, Kim, Christian, Katie, Willie; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
