Ione Crawford
October 17, 1925 - December 13, 2021

Ione Moehrig Crawford, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2021. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 P.M., Monday, December 20, 2021, at Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center followed by Graveside services at 1 P.M. at Valley Mills Cemetery.

Ione was born October 17, 1925, in Robstown, Texas, to Herman and Clara Beck Moehrig. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Crawford, son, Billy Crawford, and eight brothers and sisters.

Ione married Billy Joe Crawford on September 1, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas. They had two children, Billy and Velma. They moved to Clifton, Texas, in 1951, and then to Valley Mills, Texas, in 1953. Ione was a telephone operator in Corpus Christi and in Valley Mills. When the telephone office closed, she worked at McNeill Drug Store and then Burn's Donut Shop in Valley Mills, before going to work at the Methodist Children's Home in Waco, Texas, where she retired in 1990.

After retirement, Bill and Ione were known for volunteering their time at the Senior Center, delivering Meals-on-Wheels, and driving senior citizens to doctor appointments.

Ione is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Velma and Roger Knudson of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Kasi Hamm (Toby) and Amy Blount (Matt); great-grandchildren, Trinity and Kyndall Hamm and Brody and Bennett Blount, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by an extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and wonderful neighbors and friends she loved very much.
