Henri Ann Schildge (Ann Finke), 86 of San Jose, California, passed away peacefully on Friday September 8, 2023. Memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday, October, 19, 2023, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Born in Valley Mills Texas, on September 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Willie Earnest Finke and Pauline Louise (Darby) Finke of Morgan Texas. Ann was the sister of the late Helen Ruth (Finke) Young of Dallas, Texas.
Ann is survived by her three children Elizabeth Schildge of Los Gatos California, Carolyn (Schildge) Harrell of San Jose, California, and John Ernest Schildge of Salem Oregon. She was the grandmother of Lynsey (Harrell) Schulz and her husband Ben Schulz, Lauren Harrell, and Jeffrey Schildge. She was the great grandmother of Ford Benjamin Schultz.
Ann graduated valedictorian from Morgan, High school then attended Baylor University on scholarship. She yearned for something different and hopped on a train to California in 1957 to work in the booming aerospace industry. She met and married William John Schildge and had 3 children but later divorced. Always a hard worker, Ann started her own bookkeeping and accounting practice servicing clients throughout Southern California all while raising 3 children on her own. After her children were grown, she earned her Associate of Arts in General Education from Valley College and attended Cal State Northridge.
In her later years, Ann enjoyed spending time with Family and was a wonderful grandmother. She also helped care for other people's children after retiring. She loved gardening and flower arranging and the color red was her favorite.
She loved country music and Christian hymns and never forgot her Texas roots.
