Halcomb Stephen Hacker, age 82, passed away peacefully from this life on August 25, 2023, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 2, 2023, in Valley Mills, Texas. Military graveside service will be in February 2024 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California, with full military honors. Arrangements by Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Hal was born February 18, 1941 in Hamilton, Ohio to Naomi Violet (Bishop) Hacker. He spent his adolescence living with his grandparents Sherman and Elva (Osborne) Bishop. He graduated from Hamilton City High School in 1957. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from July 21, 1959 to August 12, 1962. He was an Air Policeman. His passion was his career. The first part of his career was spent working for a private surveying organization. Somewhat later he passed the California State Surveyor's exam and became a licensed state surveyor. He later went to work for Cal Trans as a surveyor party chief. He worked at that job until retirement when then he joined an engineering organization as their chief surveyor. He loved being a surveyor. He developed many good friends through his work and he made them family. He lived in California most of his life, then six years ago moved to Texas to be closer to family and better gun laws. He had a passion for guns. He was a great shot, known as "Leveleye." He loved to talk politics and loved College Football. He loved to travel. He was very charitable, and donated anonymously. He loved the Bible and would tell you if you were having a hard time falling asleep you should start reading it. There was no better book to rest with.
Halcomb was preceded in death by his loving mother Naomi Hacker, his brother Ben Hacker and best friend Harley (husky). He had many great adventures with Harley.
He is survived by his brother Phil Hacker, his Aunt Liz, his daughter, Jamie Andersen and her husband Arnie, and granddaughters, Ramsey, Ryn, and Rebe, and many cousins. His best friend Max Buchanan. Many cousins including Tom & Valarie (Bishop) Warnock of Valley Mills, Texas.
