Frederick Bishop Dec. 25, 1930 ~ Oct. 3, 2013 Frederick Henry Bishop, age 82, of Valley Mills, Tx., passed away peacefully from this life on Oct. 3, 2013, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held 4 P.M. Sunday at the Old West Cowboy Church in Robinson, Texas, under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Interment will be 1 P.M. Thursday October 10th at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana, with full military honors. Fred was born on December 25, 1930, in Hamilton , Ohio , to Sherman Hawkins and Elva Margaret (Osborne) Bishop. He was a Korean Army Veteran serving from April 20, 1949, to June 21, 1952. He met the love of his life, Matilda O'Lydia Valdez, in Colorado Springs while in the service. They married on August 13, 1952, in Butler County Ohio, and then moved to Marion , Indiana . That is where he became known as Friendly Fred. He worked as a crane operator at Fisher Body for forty years; he loved working there. He also loved riding motorcycles, hot rods, horses, and telling stories of grand adventures. He wasn't just tuff; he was strong. He was an amazing husband, dad, grandfather, and papaw. He loved to help people; moreover, he loved and honored Jesus Christ, and wanted everyone to know him. Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Matilda Bishop, and 7 children: James and Donna Bishop, Victor and Marilyn Bishop, Joe and Linda Bishop, Aaron and Jayne Bishop all of Marion, Indiana, Jerry Bishop, Valarie and Thomas Warnock of Valley Mills, Texas, and Sherri Lynn and Frank Lapinski of Spring Lake, North Carolina; 2 sisters: Naomi Hacker, Elizabeth Osborne; 31 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends
