Frances Delores Brashier Cowan
Oct. 21, 1930 ~ Nov. 29, 2020
Frances Delores (Lewis) Brashier Cowan, age 90, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Westview Manor in McGregor, Texas. Frances will lie in state at Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Valley Mills from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Wednesday December 2, 2020. A private graveside service will be held later.
Delores, as she liked to be called was born to Annie Lee and James Leslie Lewis in Mercedes, Texas. She was saved and became a Christian at the age of 12 at a revival at her home church, First Baptist Church, Primera, Texas. She graduated from Harlingen High School and attended Durham Business School. She married Jack Victor Brashier on March 25, 1948, and to this union 3 children were born. Jack preceded her in death in April of 1956. Delores worked at the First National Bank of Harlingen, Texas and Harlingen Air Force Base as a Key Punch Operator.
On May 20, 1961, she married J. R. Cowan, a widower with 2 children of Valley Mills, Texas. They combined their families into one with 5 children, and to this union was born a son. They shared 37 years together. They were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Valley Mills, Texas. J. R. preceded her in death in September 1998. Also preceding her in death were her parents, James and Annie Lee Lewis, and step daughter Katherine Fern Cowan.
She is survived by her children: Jeffery Roy Cowan and wife Judy of Lubbock, Gail Ann Brashier Sears and husband Jim of Clifton, Glenda Lee Brashier Hollingsworth and husband Michael of McGregor, Leslie Victor Brashier and wife Robyn of Ovila, James Lewis Cowan and wife Shelia of Jasper, her precious sister Goldie Lee Seay, nieces Karen McAdams and Lora Ann Sears, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Each were a blessing from God, cherished and loved. Mom would want all to know that God orchestrates our lives from birth to earthy death. A relationship with God through Jesus Christ assures abundant living and eternal life in heaven. God walked with her every day of her life.
The family is thankful to the nurses and staff at Westview Manor Nursing Home, McGregor, Texas, for their loving and attentive care of our mother, especially so in this past year. We pray you and others saw the light of God through our Mom and into your hearts. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the James Robinson Life Outreach International or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
