Obituary

Estelle Thiele May 4, 1916 ~ April 22, 2013 Estelle Smith Thiele,two weeks short of her 97th birthday, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, in Goodall-Witcher Nursing facility. A service Celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 26th, at First United Methodist Church in Valley Mills under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church. Estelle was born on May 4, 1916, to John and Ollie (Riddle) Smith on Hog Creek near Mosheim. She was the fifth child of nine brothers and sisters. She was a 1935 graduate of Valley Mills High School. Estelle married Herbert Thiele on December 21, 1935, in Valley Mills. Susann came to bless this union. Estelle and Herbert lived all their married life on the family farm in the Cayote community. After the death of her husband in 1979, she continued to operate the farm with help of relatives. She enjoyed her big family of brothers, sisters, and the Thiele family. She loved having big meals and reunions at the farm and sharing her hot rolls. She loved the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. Estelle loved her church and served it in many ways. On the administrative council as a trustee, teaching in the children's department, member of the Los Amigos Sunday school class, chairman of the memorial fund, member of U.M.W. for over fifty years. She loved to do things to beautify the church. It was her privilege to work with money in the memorial fund to beautify the sanctuary, parsonage, and Sunday school rooms. She was honored to help raise the funds to purchase the organ for the sanctuary. Estelle lead in the making of the Lord's Acre Quilt for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Susie Allred and husband Bill of Valley Mills, a host of nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren, and friends. Pallbearers include Kyle Smith, Mark Winkler, Mike Trollinger, Hank Jordan, Mike Smith, and Steve Smith.
