Eloise Pleasants
Sept. 15, 1915 ~ Jan. 29, 2017

Eloise (Lane) Pleassants, age 101, of Hewitt, Texas, passed away on Jan. 29, 2017. Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Valley Mills Church of Christ under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Interment will be at the Riesel Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Eloise was born on Sept. 15, 1915, in Bosque County to Grady J. and Ella Bird (Potts) Lane.  She was a 1933 graduate of Spur High School and a 1937 graduate of Texas Woman's University.  She had taught school for 22 years.  For 5 years during World War II (1941-1946) she packed parachutes at James Connally & Blackland Air Force Base.

She was a member of Pioneer Society of TWU, RSVP,  a retired teacher for forty years, and a member of the Church of Christ.  Eloise married James F. Pleasants on May 31, 1941, in Waco.  He preceded her in death in 1998.    She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Francis Britain.

She is survived by a daughter, Meredith Pleasants; a son Carlton Pleasants and wife Barbara; a sister:  Virginia Rucker of Missouri;  grandchildren:  Cyndi Jones, Kristy Long; 2 great grandsons; and 1 great granddaughter.
