Elma Lois Newton

March 8, 1938 ~ October 24, 2025

Elma Lois Newton known to most as "Nannie" of China Spring, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 8, 1938 in Temple, Texas. Nannie was a shining light to all who knew her and devoted her life to family, community, and her passions.

Lois was the cherished daughter of Luther and Audrey (Early) Newton. She grew up in the Bosqueville area, where she developed a strong sense of community and a love for life. After graduating from University High School in 1956, she pursued her education at 4C Business College, majoring in business administration. This paved the way for a successful career in finance and insurance, which she dedicated herself to until her retirement.

Throughout her life, Lois was a devoted member of the Bosqueville Methodist Church and actively participated in the China Spring Civic Club. Her commitment to her community and church was unwavering, and she was highly respected for her kindness and generosity.

Nannie's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Debora Romine McMillan and husband Clayton, and Donna McClain Stone and husband Chris, all of whom reside in China Spring. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Bobby McClain of China Spring, Brad Romine and wife Desarae of Blum, Brandy Burt and husband Jamie of Valley Mills, Scott Romine and wife Ashle of Mart, and Brent McClain and wife Kayla of Valley Mills. Nannie was also a proud great-grandmother to Kaylee, Rylee, Cooper, Baylee, Conner, Lanie, Jesse, Rodee, Addy, Dallee, Zayne, and Tripp. She was also survived by sisters, Jeannie Melton and husband Richard, Peggy Parks, Nancy Taylor and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Her family was her world, and she loved to spend time with them, especially during holidays, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

She loved to read and sew, with a special passion for creating beautiful baby blankets that she loved to share with her family and friends. Her creativity and warmth touched many lives, making her a beloved figure to those who had the pleasure to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Audrey (Early) Newton; sisters, Doris Fitzhugh, Helen Mathis and husband Ellis, Mary Ann Kelly and husband Lloyd, Marie Jaynes and husband Claude; and brother, Gary Newton. While her absence will be deeply felt, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
