Edward M. Lewis April 8, 1923 ~ Feb. 14, 2014 Edward M. Lewis, 90, of Crawford, Texas, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014. Graveside services will be 11 A.M. Monday at the Crawford Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Foss Funeral Home in Valley Mills from 2-4 on Sunday, February 16th. Edward M. Lewis was born on April 8, 1923 in Mart, Texas, to Emmet E. And Beulah B. Lewis. Ed moved his with his family to the Windsor/Speegleville/Crawford area as a child. He attended schools in the area and graduated from South Bosque High School. He joined the Navy on Sept. 11, 1943 and became a Seabee crew member of the CBMU 571 Construction/Battalion/Maintenance, stationed on Pelieu in the Marianna Islands in the South Pacific near Guam until the war ended and he was honorable discharged on Jan 9, 1946. He returned to the Speegleville area where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Jackie, on October 1, 1949. Ed attended agricultural classes in Waco and farmed, ranched and worked for Rocketdyne/Hercules for 35 years before retiring in 1988. Ed enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, camping, fishing, meeting new friends, playing cards and 42 with many of them, going to horse races in Louisiana and New Mexico, as well as attending all types of sports events. His greatest love was his family and home. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ira and three sisters, Orilla, Beatrice and Addie. Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Jackie, son Edward G. of Anchor Point, AK., daughters Deloris J. (Lori) and husband Frank Kramer of Graham, Texas, Deborah D. (De De) Athey of Graford, Texas. Grandchildren Jennifer J. & husband Jeff Stone of Irving, Texas, Christopher L. Athey of Abilene, Texas, Linda N. & husband Robert Johnson of Graham, Texas, Elizabeth Adair and husband Oracio Salinas of Biloxi, Mississippi. Great Grandchildren Triston, Tacin and Tracie Johnson and Joqquin Salinas. Brother-in-law Allen Box & wife Ruth of Corpus Christi, Billy Box and wife Irma of Cape Coral, FL., nieces and nephews and special great friends, Walter L. (Bubba) Athey and his wife Donna Athey. Also a grateful thank you to the staff and residence of the Valley Mills Nursing and Rehab for their love and care during Ed's stay there and also a special thanks to the Odessy Hospice Care
