Duncan Freedman
June 1, 1943 - June 21, 2024

Duncan Louis Freedman of Valley Mills, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Duncan was born on June 1, 1943 in Searsville, Texas.  He felt so blessed to have the love of two sets of parents in his life.  Henry and Willie Crawford Freedman who took him in as one of their own when he was just a baby and his loving parents, Jesse and Emily York Freedman who were his biological parents.

Duncan was a 1962 graduate of Valley Mills High School.  On March 19, 1963 he married the love of his life, Lynda McMillan.  The two welcomed their only child, a son, Michael Dwayne Freedman, who is their pride and joy.

Duncan was a kind, giving and a hard working man.  He worked in construction for over 30 years.  Retiring from Kasparian in 2018.  His passion was working on his farm, raising all kinds of birds (chickens were his favorite) and working cattle with his wife for 61 years.  Sharing his knowledge and working on the farm with his son and grandson gave him great joy.  Fishing, trail rides and watching his grandson play golf and baseball was his favorite pastime.  Duncan always had great stories to share, most quite funny which brought back wondering memories to those around him.

Duncan is preceded in death by his parents Jess and Emily (York) Freedman and Henry and Willie Crawford Freedman. SIblings: Lilliemae Freedman Johnson, Corine Freedman Riddle, Jesse "Ned" Freedman, Malcolm Freedman, Leo Freedman, Gene Freedman, Charles Ray Freedman, Virginia Freedman Jones, Velma Freedman Johnson, Bill Freedman, DG Freedman, Richard Freedman and Inez Freedman Rogers.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 61 years, Lynda McMillan Freedman, his son, Michael Dwayne Freedman and wife Donna and grandson, Dustin Freedman all of Valley Mills, siblings: DIane Freedman Jordan of Temple, Delma Freedman Mann, and husband Sammy, Carroll Freedman, all of Valley Mills and Harry Freedman of China Spring.  And many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at  the First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 5 - 7 PM at First Baptist Church of Valley Mills.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to the charity of your choice .

Pallbearers are Dustin Freedman, Adam Mann, Devon Mann, Ritchie Rogers,  Paul Rogers, David Fisk, Greg Hammermeister, and Steve Dinner.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Helleson, Sammy Mann, Milton Jones, and Otis Ferguson.
