Deborah Kay Smith, age 72, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at St. Catherine's in Waco. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday at the Valley Mills First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Valley Mills Fire Department. The family wants to give a special thanks to Waco West Dialysis for their outstanding care for the past 8 years she was on dialysis.
Debbie was born March 9, 1947, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Don and Amy (Carr) Holley. She first met Jerry Smith at a rodeo in Crowley. They were later married on Sept. 1, 1967, at the First Baptist Church in Crowley. Debbie has worked with Jerry with 4-H Youth Support Group and the Valley Mills Fire Department. She also worked with Jerry at the Valley Mills Livery Stable Auction Barn on Friday nights where Jerry auctioned and sold barbecue for 18 years. She previously worked at Lone Star Gas, Startex Gas, Central Freight, and Cogdell's in Waco, Texas.
Debbie and Jerry have lived on the family ranch along the Bosque River near Valley Mills. Debbie will be remembered for her endearing smile.
Survivors include her husband Jerry Smith, 2 sons: Kevin Bryan Smith and Kyle Wayne Smith; a brother: Ralph Holley; a sister: Linda Hanes, and 2 grandchildren: Garrett Cortez Smith and Seely Paige Smith.
Pallbearers are Chance Smith, Terry Golden, David McAdams, Chris Hillin, Justin Owens, Robby Clark, Keith Allen, and Bryant Sanders.
Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Smith, Ken Sanders, Bill Allred, Mike Smith and Mike Trollinger.
